Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardoso dives in and grabs Mabie's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mabie pushes down on Cardoso's head and hops out.

Cardoso drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mabie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mabie wants to stand up but Cardoso is controlling him.
Mabie knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cardoso on the ground.

Cardoso drops back looking for a leg! Mabie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mabie manages to kick Cardoso off! Cardoso jumps back into Mabie's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Mabie stuffs the takedown attempt from Cardoso. Cardoso gets slowly back to his feet.

Cardoso shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mabie as he jumps to the side.

Mabie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cardoso.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Cardoso fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Cardoso has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mabie avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Mabie creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cardoso sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

and Mabie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Cardoso looks to land a left hand but Mabie moved out of range nicely.

Cardoso drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mabie pulls his leg out and moves away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mabie scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

and Cardoso takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Cardoso counters with a single leg into guard. Mabie didn't expect that.

Cardoso postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Mabie pushes Cardoso away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cardoso gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cardoso controls Mabie momentarily but Mabie frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cardoso wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
