PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pieter Aart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Maurizio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aart comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the Tiger. Maurizio has chosen I'm Not the One (IWNBTS) as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mick Maurizio was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pieter Aart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mick Maurizio!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aart throws a nice looking combination but Maurizio bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Maurizio changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Aart looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Aart is trying to control Maurizio's posture but Maurizio avoids it.
Aart tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Maurizio wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Aart can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aart is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Maurizio is thwarting Aart's attempts to control the position.
Maurizio working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Maurizio seems to be working for a kimura but Aart defends the submission attempt.

Aart will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Aart is rocked!
Aart takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Maurizio's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
