Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wonkie Willa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wonkie Willa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Nash!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nash looks to land a combination but Willa avoids it well.
Nash throws a looping overhand right but Willa ducks down to avoid it.
Willa is trying hard to land a takedown here. Nash sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Willa shoots in and bounces Nash off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Willa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Willa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Willa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Nash pulls Willa in close to prevent any damage.
Willa works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Willa frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Willa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nash has worked his arm free - good work by Nash!
Nash is trying to buck Willa off.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Willa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nash knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Willa tries to advance to mount but Nash denies him.

Willa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Willa swings around for an armbar but Nash sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Willa's guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Willa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Willa looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Nash puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Willa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Nash decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Nash lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Willa backs up against the cage.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Willa shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nash as he avoids it easily.
Willa avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nash misses with a straight left.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Willa.
Nash is trying to buck Willa off.
Willa tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Willa is trying to get an arm triangle but Nash is defending well.
Willa has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Nash!

Willa jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Nash is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Nash and Willa has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Willa is breathing heavily.

Willa tries to move to full mount but Nash actually manages to regain half guard.
Willa is looking to pass Nash's guard but actually Nash recovers to full guard.
Nash keeping full guard, as Willa tries to pass.

Willa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Nash dives on top into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Steve Nash will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Willa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nash to the mat! Nash manages to get full guard.
Willa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nash can't keep his opponent in guard - Willa advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Willa passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Nash!
Nash prevents Willa from taking his back.

Willa goes for an armbar but Nash turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Nash.
Willa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Willa is looking for a triangle but Nash pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nash wanted to stand there but Willa had control of the position.

Willa has an active guard here but Nash has managed to pass into half guard.
Willa regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Willa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nash can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Willa has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Nash is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Willa.
Willa is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Willa looks to move to half guard but instead Nash has passed into mount! Damn!
Willa tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Willa looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Willa is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
You can see the frustration on Willa's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Willa breaks Nash's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Willa trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Nash manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Nash gets to his feet. Willa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Nash lands a right hook to the body.
Horrible takedown by Willa or perhaps it was just good defense by Nash which made him look bad.
Nash moves into range and connects with a jab.
Willa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nash throws a hook but Willa avoids it easily.

Willa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Willa tries to advance position but instead Nash slips a leg back in to half guard.
Wonkie Willa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Willa is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Steve Nash will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Willa tries to move into range but Nash moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Willa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Willa is working for a kimura but Nash is defending it quite comfortably.
Willa tries to pass to full mount but Nash defends it.
Willa works his way into full mount!
Willa wants to take Nash's back but he can't do it this time.

Nash tries to lock up and control but Willa gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Willa goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Nash turns into him and now he's in Willa's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Nash trying to control the position from guard on top but Willa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Willa wants to improve his position but instead Nash has moved into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Willa wants to sweep but Nash has passed to side control!

Nash decides to stand up, so the ref orders Willa to his feet.
Willa misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nash misses with a double jab.

Willa darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Nash is trying to control but can't.

Willa wants to work for an arm triangle but Nash is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Willa tries to pass to full mount but Nash defends it.

Willa is looking for a kimura but Nash is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Willa to get the leverage.

Willa seems to be looking for submissions.
Willa looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Willa is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Nash reverses the position - he's now on top in Willa's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Willa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nash defends it nicely.
Nash fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Willa looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Nash looks to land a left hand but Willa moved out of range nicely.

Willa drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Willa swings around for an armbar but Nash sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Willa's guard.

Willa looking for subs off his back but Nash has passed one foot through into half guard.
Willa wants to improve his position but Nash is controlling well.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wonkie Willa.
I think Nash has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
