Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hideaki Katsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doctor Dumont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hideaki Katsu could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Doctor Dumont's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hideaki Katsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Doctor Dumont!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dumont clinches up against the cage.
Dumont has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Katsu avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Dumont jumps guard and drags Katsu to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Katsu drops back looking for a leg! Dumont is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dumont manages to kick Katsu off! Katsu jumps back into Dumont's guard.
Katsu stands and throws Dumont's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Katsu wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dumont, who protects the arm well.
Dumont really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Katsu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dumont tries to improve position but can't.
Dumont can't do much from the bottom here.

Katsu working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dumont is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Katsu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Katsu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Katsu wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dumont, who protects the arm well.

Dumont can't do much from the bottom here.

Katsu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Katsu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dumont is trying to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Katsu thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Dumont gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hideaki Katsu dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Katsu leaves Dumont with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
No luck for Dumont with that takedown attempt.
Dumont dives in and grabs Katsu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Katsu pushes down on Dumont's head and hops out.
Hideaki Katsu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Doctor Dumont.
Katsu keeps the fight on the outside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Katsu rushes Dumont and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Dumont tries for a takedown but Katsu manages to get underhooks.
Katsu is pressed up against the cage. Dumont has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Katsu down to the mat. Katsu avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Dumont fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dumont is breathing heavily.

Dumont has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Katsu avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Dumont shoots in for a takedown but Katsu shows good takedown defense.

so Katsu counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dumont wants to get back to his feet but Katsu passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dumont is trying to stand back up but Katsu is controlling him

Katsu is working for a submission of some sort.

Katsu looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Katsu is trying to work for a kimura but Dumont is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hideaki Katsu dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Katsu drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Katsu shoots in for a takedown but Dumont shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Katsu counters with a shoot takedown. Dumont fights it but they end up in guard.

Katsu is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Katsu trying to control the position from guard on top but Dumont is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Dumont is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Katsu defends well.
Dumont wants to sweep but no luck.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dumont looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Katsu puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Dumont trying to get back to full guard but Katsu takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Dumont takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Katsu with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Katsu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
