PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jong Man Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mizuno Michimochi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jong Man Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mizuno Michimochi !
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michimochi shoots in but Kim avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Michimochi counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Michimochi moves into full mount! Kim won't be happy about that!
Michimochi unloads with some shots from mount but Kim bucks and avoids them well.
Michimochi sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Michimochi goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kim turns into him and now he's in Michimochi 's guard.

and Michimochi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kim's guard now.

Michimochi drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kim looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kim looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kim!
Michimochi looks gassed!
Michimochi is not content to let Kim control the position.
Michimochi pushes Kim away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kim gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kim is trying to move to mount but Michimochi reverses beautifully and ends up in Kim's guard.

Michimochi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kim is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Michimochi , into his guard.

Kim gets to his feet. Michimochi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Michimochi is looking for a kimura but Kim is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Michimochi to get the leverage.

Kim makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kim.
Kim lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Michimochi !

Kim working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Michimochi slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
Kim tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Michimochi .
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kim is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Michimochi is just riding it out for now. Kim eventually gives up the hold.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mizuno Michimochi dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Michimochi doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kim counters with a nice double leg into side control. Michimochi won't be happy with that.
Michimochi dodges the ground and pound from Kim.
Kim wants to control but Michimochi is keeping him busy.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kim accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Kim counters with a three punch combo that has Michimochi backing up. Michimochi nods at Kim to acknowledge the strikes.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jong Man Kim showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kim has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
