Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between JD Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, JD Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jones sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jones tries for a takedown but Penn sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jones keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Jones looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Penn holds on and takes a little breather.
Jones is pushing down on Penn's leg trying to pass to half guard. Penn is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.
Penn wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jones seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn is refusing to be controlled, as Jones sits in half guard.
Jones trying to mount his opponent but Penn defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Penn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though.

Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jones slips a straight right by Penn.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jones doesn't seem bothered though.
Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Penn sprawls well. He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
JD Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Jones.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bobby Jones will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jones ducks right into an uppercut from Penn.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Penn shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones.

Penn misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Penn throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
A swing and a miss from Penn.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.
Penn keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass.

Jones drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Jones as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Penn screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Jones! Nice submission victory there!
