Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Phil In (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paris Rozario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Phil In has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil In!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paris Rozario!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
In slaps away a takedown attempt from Rozario, before circling back to the center of the mat.
In tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rozario paws at him with a jab and circles away.

In looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

In is trying to work for a kimura but Rozario is defending well.
Rozario moves into full guard.
Rozario tries to land a sweep but no joy.

In postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rozario is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of In, into his guard.
In avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.

In is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rozario is aware though and is defending well.
Rozario is stalling in the full guard.
Rozario throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Rozario trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rozario with a flurry of punches that miss.
Rozario slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

In throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Rozario content to stall in guard here.
Rozario has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of In is proving hard to escape from.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rozario sitting in guard, not really doing much.
In will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

In working for a triangle but Rozario defends it easily.

Rozario stands up and waves to In to follow him.

Rozario gets the takedown into side control.
In is trying to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rozario in side control lands a decent elbow.
In tries to buck Rozario off but Rozario is having none of it.
Rozario trying to control the position but In is working away.
Rozario sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but In is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
In tries to get back to half guard but can't.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rozario defends well against a solid takedown attempt from In.
Rozario misses with a takedown attempt - In sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
In shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rozario as he jumps to the side.

and In counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Phil In has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paris Rozario.
Rozario shoots in but no luck this time.
In tries to clinch there but Rozario circles away.
Rozario shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and In counters with a slapping leg kick.
Rozario shoots in but In avoids the takedown attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Paris Rozario will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rozario looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Rozario shoots and misses

so In counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
In trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rozario's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rozario can do anything to dispel that myth.
In won't allow Rozario to sweep him here.
In postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

In drops back looking for a leg! Rozario is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rozario manages to kick In off! In jumps back into Rozario's guard.
Rozario avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rozario preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Rozario really doesn't want to stay on the ground with In. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rozario wants to stand but In is controlling the position.
In pushing down on Rozario's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

In is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rozario sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
In seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
In throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rozario is looking to improve his position.

Rozario is defending against the submission attempts here by In.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
In wants to pass the guard but Rozario is defending well.
Rozario is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Rozario trying to control from the bottom.
In thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rozario's head.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Rozario feints and as In raises his hands in defense, Rozario changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rozario throwing strikes but missing.

In escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rozario gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rozario loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rozario is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rozario landing some decent shots from guard.
Rozario must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rozario throws a big right hand that misses.
Rozario missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

In looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

In working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Rozario has passed into half guard!
Rozario throwing shots but In is blocking nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
In is trying to control but can't.
Rozario sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Rozario decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
In looks to score with a jab to the body but Rozario is just out of range.
Rozario fails with the takedown

and In counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Rozario pushes In off and gets back to his feet.
Rozario misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil In dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Phil In has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paris Rozario.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rozario takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

In thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

In tries to stand but Rozario is controlling from the bottom.
In trying to control but Rozario is working from the bottom.

In postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rozario is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of In, into his guard.

Rozario stands up from guard. Let's bang!
In scores with a one two! Rozario had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Rozario feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rozario wants to control from the top but In keeps moving.
Rozario is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

In has his feet on Rozario's thighs here. He's pushed Rozario off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Rozario screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
