PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Nolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nolan has chosen Ice Cream Paint Job-Lil Wayne as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robert Nolan!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smith misses with a wild body shot.
Nolan avoids the body shot from Smith.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nolan.
Nolan shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Nolan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nolan tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
Smith waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Nolan.
Nolan fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smith misses with an uppercut.
Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nolan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nolan.
Smith misses with a wild combination.
Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nolan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Smith.

Smith lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.


It looks like Robert Nolan has been cut.
Nolan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Smith scores with a jab.
Smith lunges at Nolan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Nolan's hand.
Nolan throws a leg kick which misses Smith's front leg but catches the back leg as Smith tries to avoid it.

John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Nolan on that attempt.
John Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Nolan.
Smith just misses with a punch to the body.
Nolan shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nolan.
Smith's corner calls for a 1-2. Smith obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Nolan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Smith throws a series of punches but Nolan avoids them all with ease.
Nolan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nolan.
Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nolan on the side of the head.
Smith is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Nolan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
John Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith leaves Nolan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Smith throws a body punch but Nolan moves out of range.

Nolan throws a leg kick which misses Smith's front leg but catches the back leg as Smith tries to avoid it.
Nice uppercut lands for Smith. That snapped Nolan's head back.

Nolan scores with a one two! Smith had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Nolan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
Smith lands a jab.
Nolan slips a straight right by Smith.
Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nolan.

Nolan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nolan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
Smith throws a series of punches but Nolan moves out of range.
Smith throws a right hand that Nolan ducks under and follows up with a left that Nolan also avoids with ease.
Smith scores with a hook to the body. Nolan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Nolan takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Nolan slips under a jab.
Nolan lands a head kick. Smith smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Smith missing with a left hand there. Nolan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nolan takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Smith lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Smith.


That has opened up Robert Nolan's cut even more.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nolan is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Smith misses with a two punch combination.
Smith closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Nolan looks gassed!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nolan walks into a jab.
Smith smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


Nolan is rocked!
Nolan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Nolan is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
Smith throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Smith dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Robert Nolan's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Smith scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Nolan throws out a loose jab but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.
Nolan connects with a high kick.
Nolan seems to have recovered his senses.
Nolan shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Nolan tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Nolan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Smith scores with a hook.
Smith throws a right and a left that Nolan avoids nicely.
Nolan misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nolan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Smith.
Smith lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Smith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nolan can do to turn this around?

Nolan takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Smith jabs at Nolan's body.
Nolan is breathing heavily.
Donk. Smith catches Nolan right on the button with a cross.
Nolan throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.
A lazy left from Smith finds it's target.


The cut above Robert Nolan's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Smith uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Nice straight punches there by Smith. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Smith.
Smith throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Nolan stumbling backwards into the cage! Nolan bounces back off the cage towards Smith, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Smith lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Smith celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). John Smith!
