Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ernesto Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Saplin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivera comes to the cage accompanied by Run Away. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Saplin!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivera fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Saplin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rivera rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Saplin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Rivera stalks Saplin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Saplin's face. Saplin staggers backwards, shaken.

It looks like Marcus Saplin has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Saplin drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Saplin might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Rivera has got the better of the exchanges.

No joy there for Rivera, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rivera, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
