PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lars Thunstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcini Corleone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Thunstrom might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to La Fouine feat Booba - Reste en chien. Corleone is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by WALKA. Marcini Corleone will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcini Corleone!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thunstrom throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Corleone's waist but Corleone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thunstrom off to one side.

Corleone gets caught flat footed, as Thunstrom shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Thunstrom could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Corleone is looking to stand up but Thunstrom isn't so interested in that idea.
Corleone keeping full guard, as Thunstrom tries to pass.
Thunstrom might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Corleone pulls Thunstrom in to control the position.

Thunstrom drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Corleone manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Thunstrom has Corleone in his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Thunstrom is on top in guard.
Corleone preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Thunstrom passes Corleone's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Corleone looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Corleone has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Thunstrom is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thunstrom in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Corleone tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Thunstrom!
