Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luciano Contini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabio Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Contini comes to the cage accompanied by Love is gone - Psy remix. Hawkins has chosen PROMENTORY as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawkins has Contini up against the cage in a clinch.
Hawkins tries to pull guard but Contini holds him up against the cage and eventually Hawkins drops back down to his feet.

Hawkins goes for a takedown attempt but Contini pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Luciano Contini has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabio Hawkins.
Contini throws a hook but Hawkins blocks it.
Hawkins throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Contini's waist but Contini gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hawkins off to one side.

Contini is trying to stand up here but Hawkins is controlling him well.

Contini bucks up and throws Hawkins to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Hawkins shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Luciano Contini is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Contini swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Contini comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Contini slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Contini tries to keep at a distance but Hawkins has taken the fight into the clinch.

Contini goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Hawkins is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Contini can't fight it off and eventually Hawkins manages to take the fight to the floor. Contini looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hawkins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Contini works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawkins tries to free his leg and advance position but Contini is retaining full guard.
Hawkins throwing strikes from guard but Contini blocks nicely.
Contini knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hawkins on the ground.

Hawkins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hawkins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Hawkins postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hawkins tries to free his leg and advance position but Contini is retaining full guard.

Contini has his feet on Hawkins's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Hawkins is looking to clinch.
Hawkins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Contini tries to avoid it but Hawkins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Contini to the ground. Contini escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Contini throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Contini swings for the body but Hawkins moves out of range.

Hawkins throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Contini was covering up waiting for the punch and Hawkins finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Contini wants to stand but Hawkins is controlling the position.
Contini is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hawkins dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fabio Hawkins dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Hawkins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Contini sprawls well. Contini wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hawkins gets slowly back to his feet.

Contini fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hawkins on the side of the head.
Contini looks to land a left hand but Hawkins moved out of range nicely.

Contini wants to get back to his feet.

Contini is looking to get back to his feet here but Hawkins is keeping cool and he's managed to take Contini's back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hawkins throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Contini is trying to get back to his feet but Hawkins has full control of the position and if anything, Contini has just worked his way into a worse spot.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hawkins throws a series of strikes and Contini wriggles onto his back, so he's now mounted. He's in real trouble here.
