PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timothy Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgee comes to the cage accompanied by McGee. George has chosen Killing In the Name Of as his entrance music. Randy George is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Timothy Mcgee!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randy George!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

George has closed the distance and engaged Mcgee in a clinch.
Mcgee looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Mcgee looking to stall.
George tries for a takedown. No joy.
George prevents a takedown attempt there.
George prevents the takedown attempt.

George breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mcgee checks a low kick from George.
George throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mcgee shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says George as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Timothy Mcgee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mcgee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mcgee throws a nice outside leg kick.
George stuffs the takedown.
George wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

George closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - George lands in his opponent's guard.

George content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
George thows a big elbow that misses.
George has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mcgee is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. George is aware though and is defending well.

Mcgee kicks George off and gets to his feet.

and George counters with a shoot takedown. Mcgee fights it but they end up in guard.
George stands up over Mcgee, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Mcgee uses the cage to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mcgee gets a takedown into half guard.
Mcgee is breathing heavily.

Mcgee is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, George has managed to free his arm - good work.
George is trying to control but can't.
George is pressing down on Mcgee's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Mcgee is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! George is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! George has escaped and now he's on top!

George trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Mcgee manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Mcgee misses with a takedown

and George counters by moving into the clinch.
Mcgee is looking for a takedown up against the cage. George gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

George breaks from the clinch.
Mcgee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and George counters by clinching up.
Mcgee struggles to land a body shot inside as George controls his hands.
George drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mcgee gets the underhooks and prevents it.
George can't get the takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcgee looking for a takedown.
George has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mcgee avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
George is pressed up against the cage. Mcgee has hold of a leg and is looking to drag George down to the mat. George avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mcgee doesn't succeed with the takedown

and George counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mcgee's guard now.
George thows a big elbow that misses.
George controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
George trying to control but Mcgee is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
George throws and elbow that misses. Mcgee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in George's guard. Nice move by Mcgee!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy George dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Mcgee shoots in and bounces George off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
George looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mcgee is looking to stand up but George won't let him.
Mcgee loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mcgee looking to sit in guard and control but George gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

George trying to control the position from guard on top but Mcgee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mcgee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. George doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. George manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
George is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Mcgee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
George trying to control but Mcgee is working from the bottom.
George loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mcgee is looking to stand up but George isn't so interested in that idea.
George postures up and lands a big shot to Mcgee's brow.

Mcgee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from George.

Mcgee has his foot on George's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. George works his way back into a safe position though.
George trying to control but Mcgee is working from the bottom.
Mcgee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst George is controlling him.

George drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mcgee manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now George has Mcgee in his guard.
George is breathing heavily.
Mcgee is looking to work some ground and pound but George has wrist control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mcgee trying to control but George is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcgee looking to sit in guard and control but George gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as George accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
George lands a couple of elbows.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mcgee scrambles and gets back to his feet.
George moves in looking to clinch but Mcgee pushes him off.
Mcgee misses with a takedown attempt

and George counters with a single leg into guard. Mcgee didn't expect that.
Mcgee is looking to stand up but George isn't so interested in that idea.
Mcgee tries to strike from the bottom.

George thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
George won't allow Mcgee to get back to his feet.
George working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
George throws a big right hand that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy George showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


George feints and then cracks Mcgee's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mcgee down.

George gets the takedown into side control.

George tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Mcgee tries to buck George off but George is having none of it.

George wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mcgee, who protects the arm well.
Mcgee sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
George takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
George thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
George thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mcgee's head.
George not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mcgee gets back to full guard.

Mcgee is looking to sinch up a triangle. George throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Mcgee's body to avoid the submission. Mcgee has instead reached around George's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Mcgee arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Timothy Mcgee!
