Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Haka Maka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Dukes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maka comes to the cage accompanied by Island Music. Frank Dukes has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Haka Maka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Dukes!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dukes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maka tries to avoid it but Dukes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maka to the ground. Maka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Maka scores with a jab to the head.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Maka escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Some wild striking there from Maka.
Dukes scores with a takedown into Maka's guard.
Maka keeping moving, preventing Dukes from controlling successfully.
Maka is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dukes's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Maka is looking to stand up but Dukes isn't so interested in that idea.
Dukes wants to control from the top but Maka keeps moving.
Dukes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dukes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Maka is pressing down on Dukes's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dukes throws and elbow that misses. Maka uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dukes's guard. Nice move by Maka!
Maka is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Maka has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dukes is proving hard to escape from.
Maka avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Maka gets to his feet. Dukes looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Maka counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Maka works over Dukes with some ground and pound from guard.
Dukes will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Dukes with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Maka can't handle though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dukes tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dukes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dukes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Maka defends well.

Dukes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dukes thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Maka chips away with some ground and pound.
Dukes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That was a close round but I would say that Haka Maka will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Maka closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dukes to the mat! Dukes manages to get full guard.
Maka with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Maka drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dukes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Maka has Dukes in his guard.
Dukes lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Dukes is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Maka wants to stand and escape but Dukes is having none of it.
Maka wriggles free and stands up.
Dukes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dukes connects with a nice short shot to Maka's temple.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dukes is looking to pass Maka's guard but actually Maka recovers to full guard.

Dukes wants to stand but Maka is controlling his posture from full guard.
Dukes throwing strikes but missing.
Dukes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Maka is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Maka has escaped and now he's on top!
Dukes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maka manages to get himself to full guard.

Maka has momentary wrist control but Dukes slips an elbow through the middle.
Maka looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dukes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Maka looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Maka looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Maka!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Maka advances nicely into full mount.
Dukes takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Dukes is working to get back to half guard.
Dukes is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Maka looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Dukes is trying to escape the mount.
Maka is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dukes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dukes shrugs it off.
Dukes throwing hammer fists to the chest of Maka. What's that going to do exactly?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Haka Maka will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Maka misses with a wild body shot.
Maka is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dukes.
Dukes tries to clinch there but Maka circles away.
Dukes throws a hook to the side of Maka's head but Maka sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Dukes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Maka counters with a left and a right that stings Dukes.
Dukes looks to land a combination but Maka avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maka misses with a double jab.
Dukes with a lazy takedown attempt
and Maka holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Maka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Dukes with a poor takedown
and Maka counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Haka Maka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Dukes.
Dukes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Maka is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Maka wants to stand up but Dukes is controlling the position.
Haka Maka overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dukes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Maka passes to side control.

Maka wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dukes, who protects the arm well.
Dukes isn't going anywhere.
Dukes is working to avoid the ground and pound but Maka connects with a decent elbow.
Dukes manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Maka uses his free foot to push down on Dukes's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dukes.
Maka prevents Dukes from getting the reversal.
Maka is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Dukes has his takedown stuffed
so Maka counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Maka thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dukes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Maka is posturing up here but Dukes has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Maka tries to roll out but it's too tight and Maka has to tap! Slick submission there by Dukes!
