Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sir Topham Hatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatt comes to the cage accompanied by .. Jones has chosen Go DJ by Lil Wayne as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sir Topham Hatt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Jones!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hatt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hatt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.

Jones is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Hatt looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Jones throws a strike but Hatt avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hatt slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jones moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Jones slips a jab and a cross from Hatt.
Hatt works Jones's body with a nice hook.
Jones misses the body punch

so Hatt counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hatt trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones working for a triangle but Hatt defends it easily.
Hatt postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hatt is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Hatt is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hatt preventing the sweep.

Hatt is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control.

Jones takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Hatt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hatt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jones is looking for a sweep.

Hatt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Jones is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hatt's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Jones works his way to full guard. Good work.
Hatt wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones wants to sweep here but Hatt controlling him for the moment.

Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hatt defends well.

Hatt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hatt is working Jones over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Hatt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jones.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hatt sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Hatt is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hatt avoid being mounted?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones throws a jab when Hatt was well out of range.
Hatt takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hatt keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jones.
Jones misses with a hook.
Jones misses with a two punch combination.
Jones moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Hatt.
Jones throws a jab but it's blocked by Hatt.
Hatt slips a jab and a cross from Jones.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hatt defends it easily.
Hatt pushes down on Jones's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Jones wants to get back to full guard.
Hatt winds up and cracks Jones with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hatt is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Hatt has control of the leg.

Jones is looking for a sweep. Hatt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hatt trying to control the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hatt wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Jones prevents Hatt from improving his position.

Hatt is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
Jones is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Hatt reverses the position - he's now on top in Jones's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Dave Jones.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
