PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mack has chosen I'm in Love With a Stripper as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chad Mack!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mack throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mack digs a good hook to Walker's body.
Mack misses with a hook.
Some wild striking there from Mack.
Mack throws out a loose jab but Walker uses good head movement to avoid it.
Walker shoots for a double leg takedown but Mack sprawls well. He's pushed Walker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mack scores with the left hand. Walker knows he should have avoided that one.
Mack slaps away a takedown attempt from Walker, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mack misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mack fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Walker manages to avoid it.
Walker has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mack throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mack jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mack jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Mack is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mack throws a hook but Walker blocks it.
Chad Mack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Walker shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Walker is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mack has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Walker tries to control but Mack wriggling away.

Mack really wants to buck Walker off and get back to his feet.

Mack landing with some feeble shots from his back... He should probably try escaping the position instead.
Mack tries to lock up and control but Walker gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Walker prevents Mack from getting the reversal.

Walker looking to control but Mack is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mack has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Walker is not going to allow Mack to sit and survive in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Mack knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Mack for a finish.

Mack rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Mack is pressing down on Walker's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Mack controls Walker momentarily but Walker frees himself.
Walker content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jay Walker will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mack looks to land a combination but Walker avoids it well.

Mack throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Walker on the side of the head.
Mack tests Walker's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Chad Mack is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mack thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mack misses with a series of wild punches.
Mack jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mack missing with a left hand there. Walker was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Walker dives in and grabs Mack's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mack pushes down on Walker's head and hops out.
Walker slips a jab and a cross from Mack.
Mack throws a hook but Walker blocks it.
Walker takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Mack lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Mack takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Mack is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Walker ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Mack misses with a jab to the body

and Walker counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mack won't be happy with that.
Walker is chipping away with strikes.

Walker looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Walker working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Walker wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mack, who protects the arm well.
Walker is looking to take a break and control but Mack is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mack is looking to regain half guard here but Walker keeps moving and retains side control.

Mack really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Walker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walker wants to free his trapped foot but Mack is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well, if Walker is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mack wants to improve his position but Walker is controlling well.
Mack throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Mack wants to sweep but Walker has passed to side control!
Mack throws a couple of strikes there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mack lands a nice shot that snaps Walker's head back.
Walker shoots for a takedown but Mack saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Walker counters with a right hand to the body.
Walker displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mack throws out the jab.

Walker ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Mack throws a combination that misses

and Walker counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Walker is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Walker seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mack for as long as he can get away with.
Mack throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Walker is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Walker wants to control from the top but Mack keeps moving.

Mack throws a few punches from the bottom. Walker seems unphased and he's got hold of a leg now - he's dropped back for a heel hook! He's got it! This fight is aaaaaaaaaall over!
