The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waithaka is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Waithaka looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Waithaka is looking to clinch but Brennan is avoiding it.
Waithaka stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Waithaka wants it to stay on the feet.
Waithaka throws a right and a left that both miss.
Waithaka tries to clinch but Brennan moves out of range.
Brennan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Brennan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Waithaka is fending him off so far but Brennan persists. Nope, Waithaka circles away and we're back to standing.
Makori Waithaka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maurice Brennan.
Waithaka moves into the clinch successfully.
Waithaka creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Brennan jumps into guard, dragging Waithaka to the mat.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Brennan is looking to sinch up a triangle. Waithaka throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Brennan's body to avoid the submission. Brennan has instead reached around Waithaka's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Brennan arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
