Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Ruslan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kowai Obake!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Konstantin Menshow and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obake misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ruslan takes one to the side of the head.
Nice shot by Obake.
Obake tests Ruslan's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Ruslan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ruslan could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Obake wants to control but Ruslan postures up.
Ruslan tries to move to mount but Obake blocks the move with his legs.
Ruslan misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Ruslan sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Obake is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ruslan moves forwards but Obake connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Obake connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Kowai Obake is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Obake tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ruslan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ruslan slips a jab and a cross from Obake.
Obake scores with a shot to the body.
Obake throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ruslan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Obake listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Ruslan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ruslan takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Obake works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Ruslan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Obake is fending him off so far but Ruslan persists. Nope, Obake circles away and we're back to standing.

Obake tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Obake is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Ruslan had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Kowai Obake dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Obake fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ruslan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Ruslan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Ruslan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Obake defends it well.
Obake is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ruslan scores with a couple of nice shots.
Ruslan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ruslan closes the distance and clinches.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Obake scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ruslan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ruslan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Obake swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Obake holds on and takes a little breather.
