And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael James!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
James misses with the combination.
James loads up on a big right hand but Betlej slips the punch.

Betlej looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

James pushes Betlej off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Betlej shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts James as he jumps to the side.
James is looking to land body kicks.
James misses with a two punch combination.
James fails to land with a series of punches.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
James displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


It looks like Michael Betlej has been cut.
James pivots, looking for a leg kick but Betlej is out of range and James settles back down.
James throws out a powerful jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Betlej forces James back against the cage and clinches.
Betlej jumps guard but James stands there with Betlej around his waist. Betlej gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
James wants to get back to striking at distance but Betlej won't allow it.

James is looking to break free of the clinch but Betlej has double underhooks.

Betlej breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
James throws a series of punches but Betlej moves out of range.
James looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
James lands a slapping body shot.

James throws a right and a left that Betlej avoids nicely.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

James lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by James.

James throws a right hand that Betlej ducks under and follows up with a left that Betlej also avoids with ease.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Betlej wants to control but James is keeping him busy.

and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
James checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Betlej shoots for a double leg takedown but James sprawls well. He's pushed Betlej's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

James throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
James should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

James lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Betlej backs up against the cage.

Betlej doesn't manage to clinch there - James circles away.

Betlej moves out of range of the body kick.

Betlej looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? James is fending him off so far but Betlej persists. Nope, James circles away and we're back to standing.

James is looking to stand up but Betlej isn't so interested in that idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James throws a half hearted mid kick.
James misses with a wild combination.
Michael Betlej is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Betlej.
James goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

James scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Betlej closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming James to the mat! James manages to get full guard.

Betlej changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Michael James seems to be getting the better of the standup.

James throws a series of punches but Betlej avoids them all with ease.

and Betlej counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps James thinking.
James attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
James is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Betlej shoots in and drives through. James sprawls well.

James fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Betlej.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Michael James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James throws a series of punches but Betlej avoids them all with ease.

and Betlej counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

James gets to his feet. Betlej looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Betlej shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
James throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Betlej counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in James's guard now.
James wants to stand but Betlej is controlling the position.
Betlej stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.

James wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Michael Betlej will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Betlej moves into the clinch.
Betlej keeps the fight in the clinch, despite James's efforts to push away.
James is trying to break the clinch but Betlej has him pressed against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on James's face as he tries to break the clinch.
James wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Betlej goes for a takedown attempt but James pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Betlej avoids a punch combination nicely.
James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Betlej moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Betlej tries to close the distance and clinch up but James swats him away and circles back towards the center.

James somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Betlej moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Betlej drives through and clinches with James against the cage.
James has had enough of the clinch but Betlej keeps him there for the moment.
Betlej wants a takedown.
Betlej taking a breather.

James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
James swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Betlej counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
James is looking to escape.
Betlej tries to stand but can't do so whilst James controls his leg.
Betlej passes to side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Betlej lands a decent elbow from side control.

James pushes Betlej away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Betlej gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

James throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Betlej takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Betlej shoots in but no luck this time.
