PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Z (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khal Drago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Z comes into the arena with Haters blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Drago's choice of entrance music: We Steady Mobbin!. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Z ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Drago moves away.
Jay Z seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Z throws a body punch but Drago moves out of range.
Drago is looking to clinch but Z is avoiding it.
Z throws a hook to the side of Drago's head but Drago sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Drago moves out of range of the strikes.
Z throws a right hand that Drago ducks under and follows up with a left that Drago also avoids with ease.
Drago getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Z looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Z looks to land a left hand but Drago moved out of range nicely.
Z walks into a left hand.
Drago staying out of range there.
Z takes a swing at Drago's ribcage but misses.
Drago uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Z.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Drago scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Z avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Z dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Drago wants to clinch up but Z keeps it at a distance.
Z ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Drago moves away.

and Drago holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Z prevents Drago from breaking the clinch.

Drago has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Z uses from the top position.
Drago controls Z momentarily but Z frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drago might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Z kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Z won't allow Drago to sweep him here.
Z postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Z accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Z postures up in Drago's guard and throws a big left but Drago blocks it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Z throws a left and a right that both miss

and Drago counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Drago.

Z tries to circle away but Drago has him pinned against the cage.

Drago tries to close the distance and clinch up but Z swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Z throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Z takes a swing at Drago's ribcage but misses.

and Drago counters with a two punch combo.

Drago blocks a jab.
Z throws a jab but it's blocked by Drago.
Drago bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The fight stays on the outside here - Drago looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Drago pushes Z up against the cage in a clinch.

Drago pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Z takes a swing at Drago's ribcage but misses.

Drago slips under a jab.
Z lands a head shot.
Z cracks Drago with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Drago clinches up against the cage.
Drago is trying to force a seperation but Z has the dominant position.

Z's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Z misses with a double jab
and Drago counters with a series of strikes. Z will be more careful next time no doubt.
Drago bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Z's head.
Z paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Z misses the body punch

and Drago counters by clinching up.
Drago tries to break free but Z pushes him back against the cage.
Drago tries to pull guard but Z won't allow it.
Drago prevents Z from breaking the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Drago's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Drago lands with a right to the head.
Drago wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Z has him pressed against the cage.

Drago breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Z throws a left and a right that both miss
and Drago counters with a one-two to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Drago keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Drago moves into the clinch successfully.

Z escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Z misses with a double jab
and Drago counters with a one-two to the body.

Z is rocked!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Oh Z is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Drago breaks the clinch.

Drago clinches with his opponent.

Drago decides to pull guard.

Drago is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Z frees his head nicely. Oh but Drago has switched to an armbar! Z is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
