Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rick Hatton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Abker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatton comes to the cage accompanied by Blue Moon. Abker has chosen I Get Around from Tupac as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abker wants to clinch.
Hatton throws a series of punches but Abker moves out of range.
Abker tries to close the distance and clinch but Hatton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Abker tries to clinch up.
Abker showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hatton.
Hatton swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Abker tries to clinch there but Hatton circles away.
Hatton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Abker moves away.
Hatton misses with a double jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abker swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hatton scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Brian Abker has been cut.
Good standup being displayed there by Abker as he connects with a hook.
Hatton throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Abker tries to clinch up but Hatton circles away and keeps his distance.

Abker shoots in but Hatton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rick Hatton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hatton throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hatton keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rick Hatton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abker fails with an attempt to clinch.

Hatton drops Abker with a nice combination! Hatton dives into Abker's guard, looking to finish!

Abker tries to buck Hatton off but Hatton is having none of it.
Hatton looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Abker is avoiding damage well.
Abker is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Hatton is looking to take a break and control but Abker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Abker wants to control but Hatton is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Abker is positioning himself well to prevent Hatton advancing to mount.

Abker looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hatton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Abker makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Abker.
Hatton is looking to work some ground and pound but Abker has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hatton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hatton wants to control from the top but Abker keeps moving.
Abker controls Hatton momentarily but Hatton frees himself.
Abker lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hatton!

Hatton can't escape the position.
Abker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hatton is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abker manages to capitalize on a mistake by Hatton to take his back!
Abker keeps control of the position as Hatton tries to break free.

Abker is looking for the choke from the back position but Hatton is controlling his hands well.
Hatton tries to roll but Abker sticks to his back.
Abker trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

Abker throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Abker is looking to control Hatton but Hatton is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Hatton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abker on the ground.
You can see the frustration on Hatton's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Hatton is keeping busy.
Abker is hanging on to Hatton's back as he tries to escape.
Hatton tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Abker looking to ground and pound but Hatton is blocking nicely.
Hatton is trying to escape the mount.
Abker seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Hatton is holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rick Hatton will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Brian Abker's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hatton misses with a two punch combination.
Abker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hatton sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Abker somewhat.
Hatton connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Abker momentarily.
Abker fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hatton scores with a three punch combo!
Hatton lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Abker falls backwards - clearly groggy! Hatton dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rick Hatton!
