Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Sullivan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Erik Francisco!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sullivan throws a head kick that misses.
Francisco lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Sullivan takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Francisco misses with a hook. Sullivan ducked under it nicely.
Sullivan misses with a looping left.

Sullivan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Francisco did well to prevent Sullivan getting side control.

Sullivan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Francisco is just riding it out for now. Sullivan eventually gives up the hold.
Francisco is trying to stand up here but Sullivan is controlling him well.

Sullivan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Francisco tries to get to full guard but Sullivan has control of the leg.

Sullivan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Sullivan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Francisco doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sullivan.

Sullivan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Francisco pushes Sullivan off looking to stand but Sullivan dives back in and keeps control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sullivan wants to work for an arm triangle but Francisco is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Sullivan is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Francisco defends it well.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Sullivan here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sullivan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Francisco is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Francisco is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Sullivan couldn't care less - he's delighted!
