Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leandro Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves has chosen T.I. - Big Shit Poppin' as his entrance music. Thiago Alves told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Alves!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves closes the distance and clinches up with Gomes, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes Gomes against the ropes but Gomes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Alves tries to clinch there but Gomes circles away.
Gomes connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Alves's hands.

It looks like Thiago Alves has been cut.
Alves tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gomes swivels and escapes.
Alves moves away from the strike by Gomes.
Alves fails with a takedown attempt.
Leandro Gomes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thiago Alves.
Alves is looking to clinch.

Gomes bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Alves! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Gomes lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Alves is still in real trouble! Can Gomes finish him?
Gomes showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Alves seems to have recovered his senses.
Gomes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Gomes's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Gomes makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Gomes is working Alves over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Gomes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gomes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Alves can't keep his opponent in guard - Gomes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Alves wants to get back to his feet.
Gomes blocks the strikes from Alves.

Gomes is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Alves is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
