Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lidel Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bosse Grepp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bosse Grepp is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lidel Castro!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bosse Grepp!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castro keeps the fight on the outside.
A telegraphed right hand from Castro misses the target.
Castro lands a slapping body shot.
Grepp tries to score a power double leg takedown but Castro sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Grepp somewhat.
Castro just misses with a punch to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Grepp.
Castro throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Grepp wants to clinch.
Castro scores with a hook to the body. Grepp takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Castro cracks Grepp with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Grepp decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Castro looks like he's trying to stand up.
Grepp wants to take a breather but Castro is having none of it.

Grepp is working for a submission of some sort.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Grepp wants to lay and pray for a moment but Castro keeps working.

Grepp wants to control but Castro is keeping him busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Castro leaves Grepp with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fight stays on the outside here - Grepp looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Grepp moves in looking to clinch but Castro pushes him off.
Castro throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Grepp doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Grepp swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Castro is now in Grepp's guard. A big mistake from Grepp there, giving up the dominant position!
Grepp is looking to sweep but instead, Castro has passed into half guard.
Grepp wants to get back to full guard but Castro has passed into side control.

Grepp bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Grepp throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Castro works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Grepp is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Castro is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Castro has escaped and now he's on top!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Grepp is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Castro throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That was a close round but Lidel Castro did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
