Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brooklin Rider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Strange (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooklin Rider has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brooklin Rider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Strange!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rider fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rider blocks a head kick by Strange.
Strange tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rider misses with a few strikes there.
Strange dodges the punch combination from Rider.
Strange throws a head kick that misses.
Strange has his takedown stuffed

and Rider counters by clinching up.
Rider managing to block the knees to the body from Strange.

Rider ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rider no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rider scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Rider darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Rider seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Strange closes the distance but Rider moves to the side
and Rider counters with a three punch combo that has Strange backing up. Strange nods at Rider to acknowledge the strikes.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rider.
Rider is breathing heavily.
Strange scores with a one two! Rider had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Brooklin Rider has been cut.

Rider darts in and clinches Strange up against the cage.

Rider manages to break the clinch.
Strange is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rider sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Rider fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rider takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

That was a close round but I would say that Brooklin Rider will probably get the nod.

Rider is stalling here. Strange is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Rider seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Strange has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Rider loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Strange wants to stand but Rider is controlling the position.
Strange is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Brooklin Rider is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Rider gets to his feet. Strange looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

No joy there for Strange, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ben Strange has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Brooklin Rider showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rider, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
