PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Hust (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Hutch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hutch has chosen Cowboys from Hell as his entrance music. Bill Hutch told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, George Hust!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Bill Hutch!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hust tries to bum rush Hutch with a series of wild strikes but Hutch uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hust lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hutch circles away quickly and effectively.
Hust stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hust wants it to stay on the feet.
Horrible takedown by Hust or perhaps it was just good defense by Hutch which made him look bad.
Hust looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Hust moves into the clinch.

Hust's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hust forces Hutch back against the cage and clinches.
Hust is looking to break free of the clinch but Hutch has double underhooks.

Hutch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hust throws a series of punches but Hutch avoids them all with ease.
Hutch shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Hust misses with a two punch combination.
Hutch just misses with a punch to the body.
Hutch tries to clinch but Hust moves out of range.
Hust misses with a few strikes there.
Hust lands with a nice body punch.
Hutch showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hust.
Hust fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hutch cracks Hust with an open hand slap.
Hutch shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hust counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Hutch tries to clinch up

and Hust decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hutch's guard.
Hust wants to get up but he can't break Hutch's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hutch pushes Hust off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hust crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Hutch - the referee stops the clock and Hust gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Hutch. Hust manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Hust checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Hust swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hust lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hutch circles away quickly and effectively.
Hutch shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hust sprawls well. Hust wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hutch gets slowly back to his feet.
George Hust has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bill Hutch.
Hust bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hutch's head backwards.

Hust drives through and clinches with Hutch against the cage.

Hust breaks from the clinch.

Hust scores with a takedown into Hutch's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hutch is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Hutch keeping moving, preventing Hust from controlling successfully.
Hutch controls Hust momentarily but Hust frees himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hust wants to stand but Hutch has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hust is working Hutch over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hust bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Hutch wants to clinch but Hust slips to the side
and Hust counters with a one-two to the body.

Hust has Hutch up against the cage in a clinch.
Hutch is trying to break the clinch but Hust has him pressed against the cage.
Hutch goes for a takedown attempt but Hust pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Left hook, right uppercut from Hust.
Hutch doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Hust.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hust.
Hust lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hutch at a distance.
Hust displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hust closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hutch did well to prevent Hust getting side control.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Hust dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hust misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hutch misses with a double jab

and Hust counters with a single leg into guard. Hutch didn't expect that.

Hust gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Hust doesn't manage to clinch there - Hutch circles away.
Hust throws a right hand that Hutch ducks under and follows up with a left that Hutch also avoids with ease.

George Hust is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hutch lands with a nice combination. Hust backs away looking to recover.

Hust shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hutch is trying to defend but Hust finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hust wants to stand but Hutch has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Hust takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hutch tries to close the distance and clinch but Hust swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hutch drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Hust lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Hust cracks Hutch with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Hust connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Hust stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hutch shoots in but Hust avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Hust scores with a one two! Hutch had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Hust throws a series of punches but Hutch moves out of range.

Hutch throws a front kick aimed at Hust's knee but Hust avoids it well.
Hutch pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Hust wants to clinch.
Hust lands a jab to the nose.

Nice straight punches there by Hust. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hust.

Hust shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hutch's guard.

Hutch has momentary wrist control but Hust slips an elbow through the middle.

Hutch had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hust defends it easily.

Hust gets to his feet - Hutch follows without any prompting.
Hutch shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hust as he avoids it easily.

Hust clinches with his opponent.
Hutch is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hust is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Hutch.

Hust breaks the clinch.
Hust comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Hutch has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Some bone on bone action there as Hutch checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Hutch thuds his right hand into Hust's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hutch shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Hust counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hust.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hust wants to stand but Hutch has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hutch escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hust gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hutch looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hust is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Hust throws a combination. Hutch tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Hutch is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Hutch throws a big shot that misses.
Hust's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Hust duly obliges.
Hust scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Hutch shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hust trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hutch gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

George Hust overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hutch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hust tries to stand but Hutch is controlling from the bottom.
Hutch controls Hust momentarily but Hust frees himself.

Hutch has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hust can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hust wants to control from the top but Hutch keeps moving.

Hutch has his foot on Hust's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hust works his way back into a safe position though.

George Hust is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hust's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

I would just about give that final round to Bill Hutch.
Well Hust has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
