Michaels comes to the cage accompanied by Alice In Chains - Man In The Box. Josh Michaels has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Michaels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Duncan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duncan misses with the combination.

Duncan closes the distance and clinches.
Duncan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Michaels.
Michaels changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Duncan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Duncan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Michaels tries to avoid it but Duncan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Michaels to the ground. Michaels escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Duncan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Michaels keeps the fight on the outside.
Duncan throws a series of punches but Michaels moves out of range.

Michaels shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Michaels will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Duncan regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Michaels.
Duncan trying to keep a closed guard but Michaels is proving a slippery customer.

Michaels trying to control but Duncan is working from the bottom.
Duncan wants to sweep here but Michaels controlling him for the moment.
Duncan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Michaels drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Michaels jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Michaels working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Duncan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Michaels wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Michaels creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Duncan sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Duncan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Michaels is staying tight to Duncan's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Michaels thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Duncan gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Michaels is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Duncan has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Michaels thowing shots but they're missing.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Duncan has eaten all the pies!
Duncan can't escape the position.
Michaels in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Michaels can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Duncan is looking to escape.
Duncan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Michaels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Duncan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Michaels.

Michaels thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Duncan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Duncan is trying to control the position but Michaels postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Duncan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Michaels fails to land the takedown.
Josh Michaels is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Michaels avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Duncan. No joy for Michaels on that attempt.
Duncan moves in looking to clinch but Michaels pushes him off.

Duncan is breathing heavily.

Michaels moves into range and clinches up with Duncan.
Michaels wants a takedown.

Michaels turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Michaels manages to end up in side control.
Michaels throws a strike aimed at the side of Duncan's head but Duncan avoids it well.
Duncan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Michaels off and has taken his back!

Michaels turns into Duncan and is now in his guard.

Michaels gets to his feet. Duncan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Duncan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Michaels moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Michaels drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Michaels is trying to get an arm triangle but Duncan is defending well.

Michaels has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Duncan is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Michaels yanks on the arm and Duncan is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Michaels.
