PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and lee kiesel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that lee kiesel was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, lee kiesel!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson rushes kiesel and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Johnson lands an elbow that stopped kiesel in his tracks for a moment.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from kiesel.
Johnson moves in looking to clinch but kiesel pushes him off.
Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Johnson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Johnson looks to land a combination but kiesel avoids it well.
kiesel closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Johnson wants to clinch up but kiesel keeps it at a distance.
Johnson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

kiesel closes the distance and pushes Johnson back into the cage.

kiesel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
kiesel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Johnson walks away with a smile on his face. kiesel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with kiesel, pushing him back against the cage.

Johnson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

kiesel decides to pull guard.
kiesel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
kiesel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
kiesel is pulling down on Johnson's head. It's preventing any offense from Johnson, at least for the moment.

Johnson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and kiesel counters with a nice double leg into side control. Johnson won't be happy with that.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.
Johnson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson pushes kiesel off and gets back to his feet.

and kiesel counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
kiesel looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johnson is trying to get back to full guard.
Johnson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. kiesel is working away from the top position though.

Johnson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! kiesel escapes and throws Johnson's legs to the side, diving into side control!
kiesel is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
kiesel gets to mount! Johnson was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
kiesel wants to control the pace but Johnson is squirming around nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Johnson tries to improve his position but instead kiesel has taken his back!
Johnson staying busy and making it hard for kiesel to control.
kiesel has the hooks in. Johnson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
kiesel slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Johnson has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson tries to clinch but kiesel moves away

so kiesel counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Johnson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of kiesel's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take kiesel's back!

kiesel is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Johnson gets his way!

Johnson is persistently looking for the submission but kiesel is defending it well.

kiesel tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Johnson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but kiesel is surviving well by controlling Johnson's body position as best he can.

Johnson wants to take kiesel's back but he can't do it this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Johnson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… kiesel turns into him and now he's in Johnson's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

kiesel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, kiesel has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.
Johnson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up but kiesel swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Johnson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck kiesel on the side of the head.

Johnson feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending kiesel crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
