PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quik Yin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yin has chosen I Got A Feeling (lol :P) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quik Yin!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yin misses the shot to the body.
Silva misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Silva connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Silva throws a head kick that misses.
Kenji Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Yin misses.

Yin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Silva has one foot on Yin's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Silva buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Silva ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A head kick misses from Silva.
Silva throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Silva motions for Yin to come forward. Silva throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Yin moves out of range of the body kick.

Silva buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Yin blocks a head kick by Silva.
Silva tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Silva avoids the body shot from Yin.
Kenji Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Silva leaves Yin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Silva pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Yin is fighting to break Silva's control of his arms but Silva is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Yin passes Silva's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Yin seems to be looking for submissions.

Silva pushes Yin off looking to stand but Yin dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Yin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Yin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Yin checks a leg kick.
Yin tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Yin shoots in and drives through. Silva sprawls well.
Kenji Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quik Yin.
Silva misses with a head kick.
Yin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Silva. Silva obviously looking to wear him down.
Yin looks gassed!
Yin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Yin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Silva feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Yin's calf.
Silva misses with a head kick.
Silva tries to clinch there but Yin circles away.
Silva throws a push kick but Yin slaps the foot to one side.
An inside leg kick lands from Silva.

Silva throws a leg kick but Yin sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Silva throws a half hearted mid kick.
Silva wants to land a leg kick but Yin is out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva tries a head kick but it misses.
Yin walks forward, straight into a front kick from Silva.
Silva slips under a jab from Yin.
Silva fails with an attempt to clinch.
Yin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Silva looks to land a body kick but Yin moved away.
Yin moves out of range as Silva throws a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Silva misses with a head kick.
Silva wants to clinch.
Silva throws a wild body kick that Yin sees coming a mile off.

Silva throws a front kick that sends Yin stumbling back into the ropes.
Silva throws a half hearted mid kick.

Yin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Silva manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Silva tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Yin postures up.
Yin wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Silva is trying to control the position but Yin postures up.
Silva is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Yin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silva lands a head kick!
Silva scores with a head kick.

Yin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Silva looking to control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Yin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Silva swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Silva is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Yin is aware though and is defending well.
Yin pushing down on Silva's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Yin wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Yin shoots in and drives through. Silva sprawls well.
Yin is breathing heavily.
Yin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silva defends it nicely.
Yin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Yin.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Silva. Yin shrugs it off though.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Silva has taken the fight to the clinch.
Silva scores with a knee to the head.
Silva misses with a knee strike.
Silva looking to throw knees to the head but Yin is blocking nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenji Silva dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Yin shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Yin moves out of range of the body kick from Silva.
Silva shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Silva throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Yin's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Yin looks for a takedown but Silva sprawls well.
Silva walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Yin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Yin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kenji Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quik Yin.
Silva throws a leg kick that misses.
Yin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Silva avoids the body shot from Yin.
Silva misses with a low kick.

Silva throws a leg kick which misses Yin's front leg but catches the back leg as Yin tries to avoid it.

Yin takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Quik Yin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Both fighters circling a little - Silva finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Silva throws a nice outside leg kick.
Silva lands a nice looking body kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Yin has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Silva.

Silva throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Silva moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Silva feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Yin's calf.
Yin tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Silva throws a push kick but Yin slaps the foot to one side.

Yin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Silva is trying to defend but Yin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Yin is stalling here. Silva is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Yin seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Silva has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Silva slows the pace down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Yin is not content to let Silva control the position.

Kenji Silva showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Silva, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
