PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wreck Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Bad Romance - Lady GaGa. Silva has chosen target=blank>The Final Episode as his entrance music. Carlos Gracie has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wreck Silva!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie gets the takedown into side control.
Silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Gracie tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

and Gracie counters with a straight right hand.

Gracie changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Gracie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Silva is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Silva is not content to let Gracie control the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Silva defends the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Silva defends the submission attempt.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gracie shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Silva's guard.

Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.

Silva is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gracie is aware though and is defending well.

Silva has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.

Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Gracie dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Gracie fails with the takedown

and Silva counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Silva.

Silva is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gracie has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Silva is looking to defend but Gracie has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Silva! Gracie pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Silva taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Carlos Gracie!
