Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jay Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Taylor's choice of entrance music: Use My Third Arm. John Taylor will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Bird!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Taylor!
The judges for this bout are , and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bird wants to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bird looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bird but Bird pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bird lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bird misses with a few strikes there.
John Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taylor closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bird circles away.
Taylor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bird looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Taylor will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jay Bird has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Taylor.

Bird has taken the fight to the clinch.
Taylor is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Taylor is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bird pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bird swings wildly with an uppercut but Taylor uses good head movement to avoid it.

Taylor has picked Bird up - he's going for a ride! Taylor dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Taylor is looking to stall here but Bird recovers full guard.
Bird has Taylor pulled in close to control his posture.
Taylor won't allow Bird to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bird is working hard here to advance position.
Bird controlling Taylor's posture.
Bird is trying to control the position but Taylor postures up.
Bird seems keen to control Taylor's posture.
Taylor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bird. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bird manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Taylor manages to get himself to full guard.

Taylor looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bird wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.

Taylor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bird gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Taylor looks gassed!
Bird throwing strikes from guard but Taylor blocks nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Taylor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bird can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bird content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Bird works over Taylor with some ground and pound from guard.
Bird has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bird being controlled here momentarily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bird's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Bird thows a big elbow that misses.
Bird working some strikes from top position.
Taylor keeping moving, preventing Bird from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bird is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Bird trying to control but Taylor is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bird pushing down on Taylor's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Bird decides to return to a standing position.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bird!


Taylor is rocked!

Bird shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Bird slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Bird lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Jay Bird!
