PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonard Rockstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ready (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rockstein comes to the cage accompanied by Dethklok - Awaken. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leonard Rockstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Ready!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ready throws the left hand but Rockstein avoids the punch easily.
Rockstein connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Ready shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rockstein as he jumps to the side.
Rockstein throws a combination. Ready tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like James Ready has been cut.
Ready will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rockstein gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ready to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rockstein preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Rockstein knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ready on the ground.

Let's hope that Ready has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ready controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ready gets to his feet. Rockstein looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Ready tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Ready looks gassed!
Rockstein uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Rockstein circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ready throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rockstein's waist but Rockstein gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ready off to one side.
Leonard Rockstein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Ready.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Rockstein. Ready shrugs it off though.
Ready takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ready with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rockstein to score with a decent uppercut.
Ready shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

James Ready seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rockstein moves into range and connects with a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rockstein cracks Ready with a right hand to the side of the head.

Rockstein drops his shoulder and cracks Ready with a huge uppercut! Ready goes down! Can Rockstein finish him?
Ready tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rockstein trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ready's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rockstein trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Ready working a defensive guard here.
Ready looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rockstein puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Ready wants to control but Rockstein is keeping busy.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rockstein tries to stand but can't do so whilst Ready controls his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leonard Rockstein dominated that round.
The cut man is working on James Ready's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Rockstein throws a jab when Ready was well out of range.

Ready drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ready works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Rockstein is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ready can do to turn this around?

Ready looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rockstein struggling a bit here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ready is looking to take a break and control but Rockstein is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ready is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rockstein knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rockstein is not content to let Ready control the position.
Ready with the ground and pound but Rockstein regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Ready seems content to control.
Rockstein is trying to stand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rockstein connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

and Ready counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rockstein's guard now.

Rockstein can't keep his opponent in guard - Ready advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Rockstein might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rockstein won't allow Ready to pass to mount.
Ready performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Rockstein has hold of Ready's hands but Ready slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Ready showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Rockstein looks to land a left hand but Ready moved out of range nicely.
Rockstein keeps the fight on the outside.
Ready fails with the takedown
and Rockstein counters with a right hand to the body.
Rockstein swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ready shoots in looking for a takedown. Rockstein tries to sprawl out of it but Ready keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rockstein manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rockstein uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rockstein shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Ready counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rockstein!
Ready throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Ready lands a big shot there that rocks Rockstein but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Ready sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Ready looking to control but Rockstein is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ready unloads with some shots from mount but Rockstein bucks and avoids them well.

Rockstein is trying to stand up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ready cracks Rockstein with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Ready controlling the position easily from mount.
Ready trying to control but Rockstein is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to James Ready.
I think Ready has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
