PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gunner State (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). State comes into the arena with Blaze Of Glory by Bon Jovi blaring out of the sound system. Mac comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Dump the Clip kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Frank Mac will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
State takes a swing at Mac's ribcage but misses.

State shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
State stops Mac from getting back to his feet.
State prevents Mac from improving his position.
State thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mac's head.

State is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Mac is controlling State's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mac is trying to defend against the ground and pound but State scores with a couple of nice shots.
State is stalling here. Mac is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! State seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mac has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mac remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mac can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

State looking to sit in guard and control but Mac gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

State escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mac gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

State is looking for a sweep. Mac is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Mac lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but State circles away quickly and effectively.
State swings for the body but Mac moves out of range.
