PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirk Palache (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams comes into the arena with Andrew WK - Party Hard blaring out of the sound system. Palache has chosen Imma Star as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Dirk Palache!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palache lets loose with a powerful body kick. Williams will feel that in the morning.
Williams throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Palache should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Williams rushes Palache and presses him up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Williams's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Palache breaks the clinch.

Williams looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Palache!
Williams looking to ground and pound but Palache is blocking nicely.
Williams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Palache on the ground.
The referee warns Palache that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Palache swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

Palache flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Palache throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Palache is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.

Williams is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Palache defends it well.

Palache is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Williams's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Williams's back!
Williams trying to control the hands but Palache breaks the grip.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Palache really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Williams.
I looks like Palache might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Palache tries to keep control of the position but Williams is staying busy.
Palache has the hooks in. Williams is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
A lull in the action here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Dirk Palache just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Williams misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Palache swivels and escapes.

A frustrated look appears on Williams's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Palache breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Palache throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Williams clinches.

Williams works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Palache looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Palache lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Williams!

Palache get's back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dirk Palache dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Williams closes the distance and clinches up with Palache, looking for a takedown. Williams pushes Palache against the cage but Palache circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Palache throws a right and a left that Williams avoids nicely.
Williams cracks Palache with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Palache counters with a solid body kick.
Williams fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Palache on the side of the head.

Williams shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Palache manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Palache tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Williams postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Palache keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Williams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Palache shoots for a takedown but Williams saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Palache throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Williams wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Palache has him pressed against the cage.

Williams does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Williams throws a series of punches but Palache moves out of range.

enabling Williams to counter with a crisp jab.
Williams shoots in looking for a takedown. Palache tries to sprawl out of it but Williams keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Palache manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Williams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Palache decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Williams's guard.
Dirk Palache is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Palache stands and steps away. Williams gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Dirk Palache comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Palache has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
