Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Cherry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is What's the difference. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pete Cherry!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
James is refusing to be controlled, as Cherry sits in half guard.

enabling Cherry to counter with a crisp jab.

Cherry sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed James's guard.
James is looking to get back to full guard here but Cherry has managed to pass to side control instead.

Cherry is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. James knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften James for a finish.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cherry. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Cherry is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. James can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Cherry has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
