PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Tann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Schuit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tann comes to the cage accompanied by It's a fight. Martin Schuit will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robert Tann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Martin Schuit!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tann fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Schuit takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Martin Schuit has been cut.
Schuit is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tann sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Schuit fails with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Schuit drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Schuit is trying to get an arm triangle but Tann is defending well.
Tann gets back to half guard.

Tann is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Schuit is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Schuit is taking a breather. Tann says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Schuit wants to pass the guard but Tann is keeping the position.
Tann doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Schuit slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Tann.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Schuit in particular looking to stall.
Tann might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Tann has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Schuit fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tann will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Schuit dives in and grabs Tann's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tann pushes down on Schuit's head and hops out.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Tann, as that shot connected.
Robert Tann is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Schuit digs a good hook to Tann's body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schuit looks for a takedown but Tann sprawls well.
Schuit shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tann pinned against the cage. Tann gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Schuit throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tann.
Schuit lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tann circles away quickly and effectively.
Tann tries to bum rush Schuit with a series of wild strikes but Schuit uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Schuit counters with a series of strikes. Tann will be more careful next time no doubt.

Tann looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Schuit fails to land the takedown.

Schuit decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Schuit moves nicely into side control.
Tann misses with an elbow from the bottom.

Schuit wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tann, who protects the arm well.

Tann pushes Schuit away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Schuit gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Schuit is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tann knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tann tries to bench press Schuit off him but Schuit keeps the position.

Martin Schuit showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Schuit shoots for a takedown but Tann saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Schuit moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Schuit looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tann is fending him off so far but Schuit persists. Nope, Tann circles away and we're back to standing.

Schuit chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Tann can pounce on him.

Tann swings for the body but Schuit moves out of range.
Schuit misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No luck for Schuit with that takedown attempt.

Schuit changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tann tries to avoid it but Schuit manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tann to the ground. Tann escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Tann throws a shot from downtown. Schuit moves away and avoids it.
Schuit fails with the takedown.
Schuit misses with a few strikes there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Schuit closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tann circles away.
Schuit looks to score with a jab to the body but Tann is just out of range.
Tann cracks the inside of Schuit's front leg.
Tann fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Schuit shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Tann counters with a nice body shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
Robert Tann showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Tann has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
