PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Koob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Slayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koob comes to the cage accompanied by The Offspring- Stuff is messed up. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Slayer!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Slayer. No joy for Koob on that attempt.
Slayer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Koob.

Slayer shoots in and bounces Koob off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Koob is trying to control the position but Slayer postures up.

Slayer drops back looking for a leg! Koob is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Koob manages to kick Slayer off! Slayer jumps back into Koob's guard.
Slayer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Slayer stands and throws Koob's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Slayer misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Koob manages to get back to half guard.
Koob is looking to control Slayer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Koob avoid being mounted?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Slayer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Slayer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Slayer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Koob as he avoids it easily.

Slayer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Koob's guard.
Koob wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Slayer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Koob's guard.

Slayer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Slayer lands in his opponent's guard.

Slayer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Koob manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Slayer has Koob in his guard.
Koob wants to get up but he can't break Slayer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Slayer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koob gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well Slayer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
