The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Thomas swings for the body but Vine moves out of range.
Thomas throws a jab when Vine was well out of range.
Thomas ducks under a wild hook from Vine.
Vine avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Vine fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Vine jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Thomas is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Thomas and Vine has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Vine wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Thomas, who protects the arm well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vine working the strikes but Thomas uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Thomas is trying to maintain the position but Vine is very close to passing his half guard.

Vine is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Thomas makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Vine fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Vine shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thomas pinned against the cage. Thomas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A slow jab from Thomas misses its intended target.

Thomas fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Nice uppercut lands for Thomas. That snapped Vine's head back.

It looks like Vince Vine has been cut.
Vince Vine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vine looks gassed!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thomas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vine circles away quickly and effectively.

so Vine counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Vine prevents Thomas from getting back to his feet.
Thomas keeping moving, preventing Vine from controlling successfully.

Vine looking for a guillotine here but Thomas defends easily.
Vine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Thomas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thomas throws a shot from downtown. Vine moves away and avoids it.

Thomas slaps away a takedown attempt from Vine, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Thomas paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Vine misses with a looping left.

Thomas cracks Vine with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Vine looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Thomas finish him?

Vine is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Thomas finds Vine's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Vine flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Thomas lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Vine will be OK.
