The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schulte tries to bum rush Rodriquez with a series of wild strikes but Rodriquez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rodriquez.
Rodriquez throws a leg kick but Schulte sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Rodriquez gets caught flat footed, as Schulte shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Schulte loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Schulte throws a strike but Rodriquez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodriquez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Schulte manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rodriquez has Schulte in his guard.

Schulte bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rodriquez's guard.

Schulte stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodriquez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rodriquez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Rodriquez is stalling here. Schulte is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Rodriquez seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Schulte has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Schulte throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Schulte rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rodriquez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rodriquez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Schulte as he avoids it easily.

Schulte shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rodriquez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
