Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tetsuzan Yamashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tetsuzan Yamashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Thiago Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mendes showed some decent athleticism there.

Mendes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Yamashi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mendes.
Mendes wants to free his trapped foot but Yamashi is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Yamashi is looking to improve his position.
Yamashi is working hard here to advance position.
Yamashi is staying active underneath Mendes, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mendes drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Yamashi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mendes has Yamashi in his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mendes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Yamashi manages to get himself to full guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Yamashi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendes wants to hold on but Yamashi pushes him away.

Mendes sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Yamashi takes a little break here. Mendes wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Yamashi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Yamashi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mendes is not content to let Yamashi control the position.

Mendes is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Yamashi off and has taken his back!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Yamashi prevents Mendes from getting a body triangle.
Mendes is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Mendes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Yamashi kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
