PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, target=blank>I dont like the look of it. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricky Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Munoz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munoz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Munoz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Smith is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Munoz to the mat. Munoz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Smith stands up and waves to Munoz to follow him.
Munoz darts in trying to clinch
and Smith counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Munoz throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.
Carlos Munoz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Munoz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Munoz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Smith. That did some damage!

Smith takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

so Smith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Smith wants to stand but Munoz is controlling his posture from full guard.

Munoz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smith is controlling him.
Smith wants to control from the top but Munoz keeps moving.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith wants to stand but Munoz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Smith throwing strikes but missing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Munoz lands with a thumping leg kick.
Munoz tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
Carlos Munoz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith keeps the fight on the outside.

Smith jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Munoz walks away with a smile on his face. Smith gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Munoz is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Smith decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
