Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Tjoke!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tjoke shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Steel manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tjoke manages to get himself to full guard.
Steel would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Steel postures up in Tjoke's guard and throws a big left but Tjoke blocks it.
Tjoke throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tjoke wants to control but Steel is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Steel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tjoke throws a nice looking combination but Steel bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Tjoke closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Steel wants to control but Tjoke is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Tjoke is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Tjoke wants to work for an arm triangle but Steel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Steel is looking for a sweep. Tjoke is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tjoke is looking to take a break and control but Steel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Tjoke is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Tjoke fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Steel sprawls well initially but Tjoke persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tjoke is pressing down on Steel's thigh, looking to free his foot. Steel is holding on for now.

Steel pushes Tjoke off and gets back to his feet.
Tjoke throws a series of punches but Steel moves out of range.
Tjoke avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Steel misses with a body kick.
Steel tries to clinch there but Tjoke circles away.
Steel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tjoke but Tjoke pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Steel is breathing heavily.

Tjoke clinches up with Steel and pushes him back against the cage.
Steel tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tjoke just stands there and leans against the cage.
Steel trying to stall but Tjoke improves his position.

Tjoke pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Steel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tjoke.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tjoke shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Tjoke was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Tjoke looking to control and managing it successfully.

Tjoke wants to finish this one by submission but Steel is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Tjoke.

Tjoke looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Tjoke takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Steel tries to hold on but Tjoke postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Tjoke dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Steel with a poor takedown

and Tjoke counters with a shoot takedown. Steel fights it but they end up in guard.
Tjoke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Steel tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Tjoke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Steel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tjoke won't allow Steel to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tjoke looks to land a left hand but Steel moved out of range nicely.
A big left from Tjoke misses.
Horrible takedown by Steel or perhaps it was just good defense by Tjoke which made him look bad.
Tjoke slips a jab and a cross from Steel.

Steel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Tjoke swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Tjoke avoids a punch combination nicely.

Tjoke closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Tjoke wants to free his trapped foot but Steel is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Tjoke stands up and beckons Steel to join him on the feet.
Tjoke keeps the fight on the outside.

Tjoke closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Steel did well to prevent Tjoke getting side control.
Steel is refusing to be controlled, as Tjoke sits in half guard.
Tjoke slows the pace down in half guard.
Tjoke is keen to just control but Steel is a slippery customer.

Tjoke prevents Steel from improving his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tjoke in particular looking to stall.

Steel is defending against the submission attempts here by Tjoke.

Tjoke is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Steel is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
