PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalle Kuikka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Peckerboat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kuikka might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to kotiteollisuus valtakunta. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuikka avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Rod Peckerboat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peckerboat shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Peckerboat stands up from mount. Strange move.
Kuikka is looking to clinch but Peckerboat is avoiding it.

Peckerboat scores with a takedown into Kuikka's guard.
Kuikka wants to stand and escape but Peckerboat is having none of it.

Peckerboat stands up from Kuikka's guard - Peckerboat perhaps looking for a knockout.
Peckerboat throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kuikka is looking to clinch but Peckerboat is avoiding it.

Peckerboat wants to pass the guard but Kuikka is keeping the position.

Peckerboat passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kuikka wants to get back to his feet.
Peckerboat connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kuikka some visible discomfort.
Kuikka is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Peckerboat has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Peckerboat decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kuikka to his feet.
Kuikka is breathing heavily.

Peckerboat shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Peckerboat showed some decent athleticism there.
Peckerboat takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kuikka tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Peckerboat decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kuikka's guard.
Peckerboat makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kuikka wants to stand but Peckerboat is controlling the position.

Peckerboat decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kuikka, up you get!

and Peckerboat counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kuikka!

Peckerboat has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kuikka's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Kuikka wants to control but Peckerboat is having none of it.
Kuikka is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Peckerboat trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kuikka tries to buck Peckerboat off but he can't manage it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kuikka trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Kuikka wants to hold on but Peckerboat pushes him away.

Kuikka fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Peckerboat, pushing him back against the cage.
Kuikka wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Peckerboat breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Peckerboat looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Peckerboat is tying to control. Kuikka wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peckerboat is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Kuikka looks calm but he's in trouble here. Peckerboat gets his head over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Kuikka is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Peckerboat lets go of the hold and Kuikka can pop his arm back in it's socket.
