The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gracie throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Abolado keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gracie tries to clinch up.
Gracie tries to close the distance and clinch but Abolado swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gracie throws a right and a left that Abolado avoids nicely.
Abolado avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gracie fails to land the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie tries to clinch but Abolado is having none of it.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Abolado shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Abolado postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gracie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Abolado, into his guard.

Abolado looking for a guillotine here but Gracie defends easily.

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Abolado has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.

Abolado has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Abolado is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Abolado manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Abolado's guard.

Abolado is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Abolado looks gassed!

Gracie thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Abolado has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Abolado's legs - danger averted.

Abolado throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gracie escapes and throws Abolado's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Abolado is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Gracie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Abolado regains full guard. Nicely done.

Abolado looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Gracie puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Abolado in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gracie tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Abolado!
