PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juliano Hafele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Muldoon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hafele might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Charlie Brown Jr. - No passo a passo. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hafele connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Muldoon's hands.
Muldoon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hafele.

Muldoon shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Muldoon was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Muldoon is going olschool here, as he tries to force Hafele to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hafele shrugs it off.

Muldoon wants to finish this one by submission but Hafele is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Muldoon.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hafele is squirming around, avoiding Muldoon's attempts to control the action.

Muldoon jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hafele is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hafele and Muldoon has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Muldoon is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hafele has escaped the position, nice work there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hafele is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Muldoon is controlling him well.
Muldoon has knee on belly momentarily but Hafele bucks him off and regains half guard.
Hafele is staying active underneath Muldoon, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Muldoon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hafele jabs Muldoon right on the nose. Muldoon blinks but takes it well.

Hafele had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Muldoon defends it easily.

Muldoon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hafele looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hafele looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hafele!

Hafele tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hafele has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hafele works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Hafele tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Juliano Hafele will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Juliano Hafele is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Muldoon drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Muldoon has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Hafele is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Muldoon yanks on the arm and Hafele is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Muldoon.
