Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Baz Bones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Milo Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bones comes into the arena with Dat New New blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Baz Bones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Milo Cortez!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bones moves into the clinch.

Cortez decides to pull guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cortez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cortez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cortez working for a triangle but Bones defends it easily.

Cortez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bones defends well.

Bones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cortez, up you get!
Bones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Bones moves into the clinch.
Cortez misses with the head strike.
Cortez wants a takedown.

Bones pulls guard successfully.
Cortez stopping the sweep attempt from Bones.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cortez wants to stand but Bones is controlling his posture from full guard.

Bones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cortez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bones has a closed guard, preventing Cortez from standing up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bones controls Cortez momentarily but Cortez frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cortez closes the distance and clinches up with Bones, looking for a takedown. Cortez pushes Bones against the cage but Bones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cortez wants to clinch
and Bones counters with a big head kick but Cortez shrugs it off.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cortez.
Baz Bones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Milo Cortez.
Cortez looks gassed!
Cortez takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Bones lands with a kick to the temple. Cortez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Cortez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bones is fending him off so far but Cortez persists. Nope, Bones circles away and we're back to standing.
Cortez takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Cortez misses with a looping right.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Cortez wants the takedown. Bones is fighting it off but Cortez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Bones's guard against the cage.
Bones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cortez defends well.
Cortez wants to control from the top but Bones keeps moving.

Cortez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bones manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cortez has Bones in his guard.

Cortez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cortez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bones controls the pace.
Bones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Cortez is trying to control the position but Bones postures up.

Cortez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bones scores with a one two! Cortez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Cortez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

and Bones counters with a series of strikes. Cortez will be more careful next time no doubt.
Bones throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cortez on the side of the head.

and Bones counters by moving into the clinch.

Bones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bones thuds his shin into the meat of Cortez's side.
Bones connects with a solid leg kick.
Bones looks to land a combination. Cortez sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Bones throws a combination. Cortez tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Bones throws a head kick that Cortez semi-blocks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bones cracks Cortez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Bones lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Cortez misses with a double jab
and Bones counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Bones scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cortez doesn't seem bothered though.
Cortez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bones feints and then cracks Cortez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cortez down.

and Bones counters with a nice leg kick.
Bones throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Cortez closes the distance but Bones moves to the side
and Bones counters with a head kick. That will keep Cortez thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Bones moves out of range as Cortez strikes.
Cortez tries to close the distance and clinch but Bones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cortez shoots in and drives through. Bones sprawls well.
Bones lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Cortez has his takedown stuffed
and Bones counters with a left and a right that stings Cortez.
Baz Bones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Milo Cortez.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cortez.
A left and a right from Bones both land. Nice combination.

Cortez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cortez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Cortez wants to control from the top but Bones keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Bones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cortez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bones smiles and moves away.
Baz Bones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cortez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Bones rushes Cortez and presses him up against the cage.

Bones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cortez misses with a double jab
and Bones counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Cortez is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Cortez throws a series of punches but Bones avoids them all with ease.

Cortez tries to keep at a distance but Bones has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cortez wants a takedown.
Bones is pressed up against the cage. Cortez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bones down to the mat. Bones avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Cortez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cortez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bones dodges the punch combination from Cortez.
Bones throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Bones slips a jab and a cross from Cortez.
Bones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bones throws a combination. Cortez tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Cortez fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Baz Bones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A head kick from Bones lands but Cortez takes it in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Milo Cortez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bones clinches up with Cortez and pushes him back against the cage.
Cortez tries to pull guard but Bones holds him up against the cage and eventually Cortez drops back down to his feet.
Cortez jumps guard but Bones stands there with Cortez around his waist. Cortez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cortez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bones fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Cortez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bones pinned against the cage. Bones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Bones has closed the distance and engaged Cortez in a clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bones lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Bones is trying to drag Cortez to the mat but Cortez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

and Bones counters with a nice body kick.

Bones doesn't manage to clinch there - Cortez circles away.

Cortez gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Bones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Cortez is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Bones still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Bones has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Bones is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bones wants to control but Cortez is having none of it.
Bones tries to reverse the position but Cortez maintains control.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Milo Cortez.
I think Bones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
