Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Craig McDaniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Pattenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pattenson has chosen 4 my town as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Craig McDaniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Patrick Pattenson!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pattenson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
McDaniel wants to control but Pattenson postures up.
McDaniel tries to get back to half guard but can't.
McDaniel is working hard here to advance position.

Pattenson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
McDaniel tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Pattenson trying to control the action but McDaniel is working from the bottom.
McDaniel wants to get back to his feet but Pattenson drags him back down.

McDaniel managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Pattenson.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McDaniel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pattenson sprawls well initially but McDaniel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pattenson is trying is best to control the position here.
McDaniel wants to stand up but Pattenson manages to regain full guard.

Pattenson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McDaniel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McDaniel wants to pass the guard but Pattenson is keeping the position.

Pattenson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McDaniel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McDaniel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McDaniel postures up.
Pattenson looks gassed!

Pattenson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! McDaniel escapes and throws Pattenson's legs to the side, diving into side control!
McDaniel lands some shots froms side control.
Pattenson seems a little lost for a moment, as McDaniel dominates the positioning.
Pattenson is trying to control McDaniel's posture but McDaniel avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here as McDaniel stalls from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDaniel lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pattenson wants to control but McDaniel postures up.
Pattenson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

McDaniel is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pattenson has escaped the position, nice work there.

McDaniel is trying to get an arm triangle but Pattenson is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig McDaniel dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Pattenson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McDaniel to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pattenson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Pattenson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McDaniel is aware though and is defending well.
McDaniel sitting in guard here, content to control.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McDaniel makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

McDaniel would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Pattenson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McDaniel looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
McDaniel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pattenson is keeping the position for now.
Pattenson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

McDaniel distracts Pattenson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
McDaniel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pattenson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and McDaniel is now in half guard.
McDaniel content to control rather than advance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pattenson wants to control but McDaniel is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Pattenson trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
McDaniel in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pattenson tries to hold on but McDaniel postures up.
McDaniel with a couple of short strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig McDaniel dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


McDaniel throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pattenson's head.
McDaniel misses with a takedown attempt

and Pattenson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Pattenson wants to control from the top but McDaniel keeps moving.

McDaniel has his foot on Pattenson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pattenson works his way back into a safe position though.

McDaniel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pattenson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pattenson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
McDaniel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

McDaniel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pattenson defends it easily.
Pattenson wants to control from the top but McDaniel keeps moving.

McDaniel has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pattenson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pattenson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pattenson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
McDaniel misses with a takedown

and Pattenson counters with a single leg into guard. McDaniel didn't expect that.
McDaniel throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Pattenson trying to control but McDaniel is working from the bottom.

McDaniel looking for a guillotine here but Pattenson defends easily.
Craig McDaniel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McDaniel thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

and Pattenson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Craig McDaniel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McDaniel is looking for a sweep. Pattenson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
McDaniel manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDaniel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pattenson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pattenson advances to half guard.
McDaniel lands a couple of sideways elbows.
McDaniel wants to control but Pattenson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McDaniel flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Pattenson drops an elbow to the side of McDaniel's head.

Pattenson is working for a kimura but McDaniel is defending it quite comfortably.
McDaniel missing with punches from the bottom.

McDaniel is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pattenson pulls his head out easily.
Craig McDaniel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Pattenson wants to work for an arm triangle but McDaniel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Patrick Pattenson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Pattenson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Patrick Pattenson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McDaniel has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
