PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Conan BARBARIAN (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thales Burin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Conan BARBARIAN!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thales Burin!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

BARBARIAN has taken the fight to the clinch.
Burin jumps guard but BARBARIAN stands there with Burin around his waist. Burin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Burin is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

BARBARIAN lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
BARBARIAN is trying to control the action in half guard but Burin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burin tries to roll over but BARBARIAN keeps him under control.
BARBARIAN blocks the strikes from Burin.

BARBARIAN stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Burin to get to his feet.
BARBARIAN wants to clinch up but Burin keeps it at a distance.
BARBARIAN fails with a takedown attempt.
Burin tries for a takedown but BARBARIAN circles away easily
and BARBARIAN counters with a head kick. That will keep Burin thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

BARBARIAN stands and steps away. Burin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Burin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. BARBARIAN is aware though and is defending well.

BARBARIAN has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Burin is proving hard to escape from.

Burin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. BARBARIAN gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
BARBARIAN trying to stand up but can't free himself from Burin's guard.
BARBARIAN looking to sit in guard and control but Burin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
BARBARIAN can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Burin controls the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Burin stands up over BARBARIAN, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Conan BARBARIAN dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and BARBARIAN counters with a shoot takedown. Burin fights it but they end up in guard.
Burin controls BARBARIAN momentarily but BARBARIAN frees himself.
Burin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burin is on top in guard.

Burin wants to stand but BARBARIAN has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
BARBARIAN really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Burin won't allow BARBARIAN to get back to his feet.
BARBARIAN tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Burin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
BARBARIAN has momentary wrist control but Burin slips an elbow through the middle.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Burin lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Burin shoots for a double leg takedown but BARBARIAN sprawls well. He's pushed Burin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Conan BARBARIAN has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thales Burin.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

BARBARIAN drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and BARBARIAN jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Good leg kick by Burin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Conan BARBARIAN is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Burin lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
BARBARIAN throws a right and a left that Burin avoids nicely.
BARBARIAN changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Burin tries to avoid it but BARBARIAN manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Burin to the ground. Burin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for BARBARIAN, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
