The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans has a takedown stuffed.

and Evans counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
VL is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Evans wants to control but VL is keeping him busy.
VL is concentrating on defense, preventing Evans from advancing position.
VL is looking for a sweep. Evans is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Evans is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Evans wants to take a breather but VL is having none of it.
VL blocking the ground and pound attempt from Evans.
VL tries to get to full guard but Evans has control of the leg.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
