Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Kakko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Misaki Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Misaki Suzuki has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Kakko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Misaki Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kakko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Kakko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kakko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Suzuki is trying to improve his position.

Kakko working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kakko looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Suzuki is looking to regain half guard here but Kakko keeps moving and retains side control.
Suzuki sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Kakko is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Suzuki is pressing down on Kakko's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Kakko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Suzuki looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Suzuki looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Suzuki!
Kakko is not content to let Suzuki control the position.
Kakko is looking for a sweep.
Kakko is working hard here to advance position.

Suzuki tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Suzuki trying to control the action but Kakko is working from the bottom.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kakko is looking for a sweep.

Suzuki is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kakko has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kakko takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Suzuki cracks Kakko with a big right hand but Kakko just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kakko is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Suzuki off and has taken his back!
Suzuki breaks Kakko's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Kakko throws his legs up looking for a submission but Suzuki uses it to pass to side control.
Kakko is not content to let Suzuki control the position.

Suzuki is trying to get an arm triangle but Kakko is defending well.

Kakko is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Suzuki's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Suzuki moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Kakko.
Kakko is breathing heavily.

Suzuki tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Kakko tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Suzuki wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A nice elbow there by Suzuki.

Suzuki pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Suzuki lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Suzuki is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kakko can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Suzuki prevents Kakko from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Misaki Suzuki dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Suzuki closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kakko to the mat! Kakko manages to get full guard.

Suzuki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kakko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Suzuki has managed to get both his arms back between Kakko's legs - danger averted.

Kakko has his foot on Suzuki's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Suzuki works his way back into a safe position though.

Kakko had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Suzuki defends it easily.

Kakko has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Suzuki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kakko has his foot on Suzuki's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Suzuki works his way back into a safe position though.

Kakko is bucking up trying to escape but Suzuki cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Suzuki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

BOOM! Suzuki connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Kakko bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Suzuki is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Kakko postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Suzuki is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kakko, into his guard.

Kakko has an active guard here but Suzuki has managed to pass into half guard.
Suzuki wants to take a breather but Kakko is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suzuki moves into full mount! Kakko won't be happy about that!
Kakko looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Suzuki is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kakko knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kakko for a finish.
You can see the frustration on Kakko's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Suzuki keeps control of the position easily here as Kakko tries to buck him off.
Suzuki lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Suzuki.

I really don't envy Kakko right now.

Misaki Suzuki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Kakko doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Suzuki counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Suzuki trying to control but Kakko is working from the bottom.

Suzuki wants to pass the guard but Kakko is defending well.

Despite being in the dominant position, Misaki Suzuki just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Suzuki tries to bum rush Kakko with a series of wild strikes but Kakko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Suzuki counters with a single leg into guard. Kakko didn't expect that.

Suzuki uses his free foot to push down on Kakko's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kakko.

Suzuki is in the full mount, landing strikes.
The referee warns Kakko that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Kakko is desperately trying to improve his position but Suzuki has a good base and remains in mount.

Misaki Suzuki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Suzuki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
