The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rodrigues bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rodrigues is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Lessnar will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Rodrigues wants to control but Lessnar is keeping him busy.
Lessnar is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rodrigues off and has taken his back!

Lessnar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodrigues swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lessnar stands up from Rodrigues's guard - Lessnar perhaps looking for a knockout.

Lessnar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rodrigues stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lessnar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

It looks like Justin Rodrigues has been cut.

Lessnar closes the distance and clinches.
Rodrigues is pressed up against the cage. Lessnar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rodrigues down to the mat. Rodrigues avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Lessnar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Lessnar stands up and waves to Rodrigues to follow him.

Rodrigues pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rodrigues shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lessnar as he jumps to the side.

and Lessnar counters with a shoot takedown. Rodrigues fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rodrigues working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lessnar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lessnar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lessnar slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Lessnar has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Rodrigues clinches with his opponent.
Lessnar works on Rodrigues's body with a couple of short punches.

Lessnar breaks the clinch.
Lessnar tests Rodrigues's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Lessnar, right into the meat.
Lessnar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lessnar keeps the fight on the outside.

Lessnar lands a big head kick that sends Rodrigues tumbling to the mat! Lessnar takes a step backwards and waves Rodrigues back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Rodrigues is rocked!
Lessnar scores with a shot to the body.
Oh Rodrigues is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Lessnar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rodrigues sprawls well initially but Lessnar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lessnar decides to stand and escape the position.
Lessnar Rushes Rodrigues and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Rodrigues is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Lessnar Piles on the pressure and Rodrigues crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
